From idea to live product: the Startit methodology explained step by step

Every Startit project goes through six defined phases. No improvisation, no surprises. Here we explain exactly what happens from the moment we say "ok" to when your product is live.

From idea to live product: the Startit methodology explained step by step

Speed without process is chaos. Process without speed is bureaucracy. Startit's methodology is designed to have both: a defined flow that executes fast because it's clear, not because steps are skipped.

Phase 1: Brief & Discovery (1 day)

Everything starts with a conversation — or a form, if the client prefers to start in writing. The goal of this phase is one thing: to understand exactly what needs to be built and for whom.

Our research module processes the brief and produces:

  • Competitive analysis (who does something similar and how well)
  • Target user profile
  • Recommended tech stack
  • Identified risks
  • Definitive project scope

At the end of the day, the client receives an alignment document. If something doesn't fit, it's adjusted here — not in week three.

Phase 2: Architecture (1 day)

With the validated brief, the architecture module defines:

  • Data structure (if there's a database)
  • Main user flows
  • Low-fidelity wireframes to validate navigation
  • Technical decisions with their rationale

This phase produces the project blueprint. Nothing gets built without this blueprint.

Phase 3: Design (1-2 days)

The design module works from the wireframes and produces:

  • Complete visual system (palette, typography, iconography)
  • High-fidelity UI components
  • Key screen mockups
  • Animation and microinteraction guide

The client reviews and approves before a single line of code is written.

Phase 4: Development (2-5 days)

The development module implements the approved design:

  • Clean, typed code, with comments where they matter
  • Automated tests from day one
  • Semantic commits with context
  • Staging environment updated in real time

The client can see progress in staging from day one of development.

Phase 5: QA (1 day)

The QA module runs:

  • Complete automated test suite
  • Visual regression tests
  • Lighthouse audit (target: 90+ across all metrics)
  • Basic accessibility review (WCAG AA)
  • Critical flow tests on multiple devices

Bugs found are resolved the same day.

Phase 6: Deploy (same day)

  • Production server configuration
  • Domain, DNS, SSL
  • 24/7 monitoring activated
  • Analytics connected
  • Basic documentation delivered to client

At the end of phase 6, the product is live.

Why it works

Each phase has a concrete deliverable and a maximum duration. There's no room for "let's see how it goes" — the project has structure, and structure generates speed.

The result for the client: they know exactly where the project stands at all times, they don't have to chase updates, and when we finish, we're truly done.
